My Happy Mind

Overview of myHappymind

Grounded in positive psychology and neuroscience, myHappymind is a whole school approach that aims to develop resilient, confident, independent children and enables them to understand how to keep mentally healthy. We implement myHappymind right across school and are dedicated to building a whole school approach to positive mental wellbeing.

myHappymind helps children understand how their brains work and creates a culture that helps to build children's resilience, confidence, and self-esteem. myHappymind also teaches the children how to self-regulate and manage their emotions in stressful times, allowing them to be their very best selves!

It helps children to:

- Feel happier

- Know what to do when they feel worried or stressed

- Improve their focus and learn more

- Achieve more of the goals that they set for themselves

- Develop better relationships with friends and families

- Feel great about who they are and have positive self esteem

myHappymind is a fully digital learning programme, taught by teachers, with the core plan consisting of 20-minute sessions for children in years 1 to 5. Lessons are taught once per week on a Monday morning, but the principles the children are taught, such as happy breathing, are embedded throughout the school day at all times. myHappymind is taught to every child in school.

There are 13 additional lessons and activities for children undergoing the transition from year six to secondary school and other resources are available on demand. All the content is presented in a colourful, child-friendly manner and lessons are engaging and enjoyable. Each child in school has their own special, colour-printed journal that they work through throughout the year.

All of our staff have access to a CPD-certified digital wellbeing course, and parents can access an app to understand the content their children are being taught and support their child's journey. This systemic approach enables maximum engagement with our school community, supports patient and public engagement, and ensures sustainability.

Meet Your Brain: Understanding how your brain works and how to ensure we look after it so that we can manage our emotions and be at our best. Growth mindset is a key part of this too

Celebrate: Understanding your unique character strengths and learning to celebrate them. This is a fantastic module for building selfesteem

Appreciate: Understanding why gratitude matters and how you can develop gratitude as a habit. Gratitude is key to well-being and resilience and we're all about making it a habit!

Relate: Understanding why positive relationships matter and how to build them. We're focussed on the building blocks of good relationships and friendships

Engage: Understanding how to set meaningful goals that matter and how to keep resilient in times of challenge. This module is all about building self-esteem and resilience too
