Maths Magic

At Arden, we’re always looking for ways to make our teaching the best it can be, so we were absolutely delighted to spend yesterday working with Tara Loughran, a fantastic maths consultant who really knows her stuff. 

Tara spent time observing maths lessons across the school. It was brilliant to have her perspective on what we’re doing well and where we can make things even better. She was so positive about what she saw and gave us some really valuable feedback that we can now build on to ensure our maths offer is the best it can be.

The day finished with an inspiring staff meeting, where Tara shared her insights on great maths teaching and lots of professional discussions took place about how we can make maths more engaging and accessible for all our children, no matter their starting points. There were lots of practical ideas and a real buzz around school as staff got stuck into exploring new ways to challenge and support our learners.

By the end of the day, our fantastic teachers were full of ideas and enthusiasm, ready to put everything into practice. It’s always great to take a step back and reflect, and Tara’s visit gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that. The best bit is that our children will be the ones who benefit, with even more engaging and effective maths lessons coming their way. 

A huge thank you to Tara for her time, expertise, and passion for maths – we can’t wait to keep developing and building on what we’ve learned.
