The floodgates opened...
Well, this wasn’t how we planned to start the week...
On Monday morning, we arrived to find a flood in the school kitchen – not exactly the warm welcome we were hoping for! Unfortunately, it meant we had to close school for the day while we tackled the cause of the issue and the subsequent clean-up. Thanks to the hard work of our incredible team, we were back up and running (as if nothing had happened!) by Tuesday.
It was all hands on deck on Monday, with staff rolling up their sleeves to help clear up the mess and mop up the water. A special mention has to go to the fantastic Dolce kitchen team and our site manager, Mr Bullock, who worked tirelessly with us to get everything fixed and cleaned as quickly as possible. We didn’t stop until we were sure everything was safe and ready for the children to return, and were delighted that by Tuesday morning we were welcoming children back to school as normal.
Whilst we served sandwiches on Tuesday due to the kitchen issues, we were fully operational by Wednesday with our beautiful hot dinners back on the menu. If you haven’t seen the video of our amazing kitchen team back in action, head over to our school Facebook page – it’s well worth a watch (a word of warning though - it will likely make you feel hungry!).
A huge thank you to everyone who pulled together to get us back up and running so quickly. I'm very proud of how everyone mucked in to get the children back in to Arden as quickly as possible, and of how understanding and supportive all of our families were in a tough situation. It underlined what a fantastic school community we have - we are very lucky.
I hope you all have a restful half term. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 24th February.
