What a fortnight!

21 Mar

It’s been another exciting and action-packed couple of weeks at Arden - I don't know where to begin with this week's blog! Here's a round up of just a few of the things our children have enjoyed:

🚶‍♀️🌳 Year 1's Vernon Park Adventure
Year 1 have been exploring Vernon Park! 1NW/SR were the first to head out, taking in the fresh air and signs of spring as they walked through the park and discovered more about the local environment. Next week, it’s 1CE’s turn — we can’t wait to hear about their adventure.

🌊 Year 3’s Visit to the River Goyt
Our Year 3 geographers have been out and about too! They took a trip to the River Goyt as part of their geography learning, exploring river features and understanding how rivers shape the landscape. The trip really brought their classroom learning to life — and the beautiful weather was a bonus.

🏰 Year 4's Residential to Castleton
Year 4 had an amazing time on their residential trip to Castleton. It was a brilliant opportunity to build independence and create lasting memories with their friends. A huge thank you to the staff who made the trip possible!

🌍 Dr. Diane Davis Visits Year 5
Last week, Year 5 had the incredible privilege of welcoming Dr Diane Davies, the UK’s only archaeologist specialising in the ancient Maya civilisation, to Arden! Dr Davies spent time with our Year 5 classes, sharing her fascinating knowledge about Maya history and culture. What an amazing opportunity to learn from a real expert.

🌲 Year 6's Forest School and Life Skills
Year 6 have been busy building their confidence and teamwork skills through Forest School sessions with Miss Hughes, exploring nature and learning how to use natural resources creatively. Alongside this, they’ve also been developing essential life skills with Mr. Ogilvie — valuable lessons that will stick with them for years to come.

🐝 Busy Bees Update
It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks at Busy Bees! On 10th March, we had a special visit from Mr Whalley for World Book Day, where he read We’re Going on a Bear Hunt — the children loved joining in on the adventure. On 17th March, the children got creative with sock puppets after reading Sid the Sock. We’re looking forward to celebrating Mother’s Day/Special Person Day on 24th March with a special event that’s sure to be lovely for everyone involved. Don’t forget to spread the word about our group - Busy Bees meets every Monday at 9am for more fun, crafts, stories and play 🐝❤️

🔴 Red Nose Day Fun!
Today we’ve been enjoying Red Nose Day! The school was filled with smiles as everyone donned their non-uniform and participated in fun activities to raise money for this fantastic cause. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and got involved — it’s wonderful to see our Arden community coming together to make a difference.

🔥 What’s Coming Up Next Week
Next week is set to be amazing! Here’s what’s in store:
🌟 Paralympian Michael Churm will be visiting on Monday. Every child will have the chance to join a fun and energetic circuit session with Michael and then hear his inspiring story in a special assembly. What a fantastic opportunity to learn from an elite athlete!
🌟 Also on Monday, we have our Mother’s and Special Person Day Sale hosted by the Arden School Association — a perfect chance for children to pick up a thoughtful gift.
🌟 We've got Progress Evenings on Tuesday and Thursday!
🌟 To top it all off, our amazing school choir will be performing at Stockport Town Hall on Monday evening. We know they’ll make us proud!
